“Empowerment is not expensive” — Stephanie Woollard
By Orsi Parkanyi
Stephanie is not an ordinary 27 years old woman. Her passion to make this world a better place and her strategic and smart approach in doing so serves as a great example to anyone. Steph Woollard is a social entrepreneur, the founder of Seven Women, a fair trade wholesale and retail business that sells handmade felt and knitted items as part of a grassroots development project that empowers women through income generation.

“Giving makes people happy. Gratitude and giving is my formula for happiness. I don’t know about anyone else but I think that’s what makes people happy, being grateful for what you have and giving to others.”

19 April 2012A client is refusing to pay. What should I do?
“A client has repeatedly broken contractual arrangements and is now refusing to pay me for work I’ve done. Should I threaten legal action and, if so, is that usually enough to get people like this to comply? I don’t really have the time or resources for a lengthy legal battle.”

The question you have asked is unfortunately all too common, as there seem to be many people out there in the business world who, for whatever reason, feel they don’t have to pay their suppliers.
The worst ones are those who do this so often they know what size debt they can run up before it becomes worthwhile chasing them for it.
They rely on people like you not having the time or money for a lengthy legal battle.

Yesterday, I attended an invite only lunch event exclusively for women fully sponsored by an insurance company (I do not wish to name). Sydney centre location, gorgeous venue, friendly hospitality, drinks, wine, amazing food and divine dessert! A room filled with over 250 gorgeous, young, powerful business women! The highlight of the event was the 1 hour keynote talk given by one of Australia’s most amazing, most inspirational and high profile female entrepreneurs Mia Freedman, and a great goodie bag including her latest book, Mia Culpa.

April 17th, 2012Article, Guest BlogStart your own business – Freelancing through the Internet…is it possible? (and profitable)?
By Lisa Cumes
Is it really possible to find jobs and make money off the Internet? YES! I have been working from home part time as a Virtual Assistant for the past 4 years as my very young children are growing up. I find it is the perfect balance between being a mum, and keeping in touch with the real world and my career. Since discovering fantastic opportunities online, I have turned my back on the ‘corporate world’ and aspiring for a corner cubicle in some high-rise office building in the city. I have realised that I am the type of person who likes at home, while choosing my own clients and projects, in other words, an Entrepreneur!

April 16th, 2012Article13 Critical habits to cultivate as an Entrepreneur

1. Listen to your body and take care of it!
Find the time to exercise, eat well, get enough sleep and spend at least 10-20 minutes each day in fresh air. A good practice I have found is to set the time and after every two hours spent working, take a 5-10 minutes break to get a glass of clean water, stretch a bit and get some fresh air. I guarantee that you’ll be much more productive throughout the day if you stick to this simple routine.
